When Rick destroys the galactic government prison/ship/big space thing he switches bodies alot eventually he ends up in that generals body (please correct me if I get this wrong) when he resets portal travel he returns to HIS original universe which is the C-137's universe.
Does it still count as his universe if he switched bodies or is there something I'm missing here or it might be something they messed up. Please comment and give me some insight. 😁
Why were the Citadel remains shown in this episode? I thought it was only in the one dimension that they left behind in the beginning of the season.
(DISCLAIMER: Please note that there are multiple changes to plot of the beautiful series that is Rick and Morty anyway let's start)
Morty: It's been a year since the destruction of the Citadel... and since you're here, I might as well tell you what happened.
Back in 2021, Evil Morty arrived at the Citadel and attacked it and the remaining survivors of Earth. Luckily for some, they were evacuated into other dimensions, which hopefully they'll be safe from Evil Morty. This is where my turn to be Evacuated came...
Soundtrack #1: 0:00 to 1:20
Rick: ...I'm sending you to the one Dimension that is quite similar to ours, Morty, remember it?
Morty: Yeah, b-but what about you?
Rick: I'm going to buy you time to escape.
Morty: No! I won't leave you-
Rick shoves Morty back into the escape pod.
Rick: No Morty, I'm doing this for you, for you to stay safe. I'm sorry. But you can't always make a change... or make a difference... or make a whatever.
Rick: All that will matter is for you to be safe.
Evil Morty: There you are.
Rick closes Morty's escape pod and sets the launch timer for 20 seconds.
Soundtrack #2: 1:25 (as Rick is impaled)
Evil Morty: Now perish.
Rick and Evil Morty start Fighting eachother before Evil Morty impales Rick with a steel bar.
Rick: AHRGH!
Evil Morty: I knew I was right, your greatest fear I mean.
Rick: ...
Evil Morty: You fear being outsmarted, and most importantly... People being SMARTER than you.
Rick: What was that for? A couple of bucks-
E. Morty kicks Rick before ripping the sharp Steel Bar from his torso and readies the aim for his head.
Evil Morty: So, Any Last Words?
Rick, coughing up blood: Yeah. Boom.
Morty's escape pod is launched away and shows a screen for Morty to see the last moments of everyone in the Citadel, including Rick, who pulls out a remote and presses a button which activates the Citadel's self destruct.
Citadel System: Self Destruct initiated. T-minus 10 seconds.
Evil Morty: YOU FUCKING PIECE OF-
Rick kicks E. Morty away and stabs his leg with the steel bar and walks to the window as the countdown hits 5.
Rick: Goodbye.... Morty...
Citadel System: 5... 4... 3...
The screen in Morty's pod turns off as he looks at Rick waving goodbye to him from the window as the ship starts lighting up.
Morty: R-Rick?
Soundtrack #3: 1:25 (as ship explodes)
The ship finally explodes, blowing up in blue, green, and purple colors. Morty bangs on the window with his fists and yells:
Morty: RIIIIIIIICCCKKKKK!!!!!!!!
:as a portal to the Dimension mentioned opens behind his pod just as the shockwave of the blast reaches him.
Soundtrack #4:
Morty: ...And that was it. *Morty sheds a tear and sniffs from remembering it* he was just.. gone. I'll miss Rick, but I believe he left a note for me, here's what it says.
Soundtrack #5:
Morty then finds the gadget in one of the drawers in the room he was in and fires it, opening a Blue and Green portal. Morty, after staring at it for a while, enters it, only to be surprised by what's in it.
Morty wonders what to do next.

I have waited for half a year by now for the second half, and I am pretty sure that the rest of us diehard fans of the series have waited for it as well. I cannot believe it myself, but by the time I am writing this, it is about a week until we get the second half of the fourth season we all deserve.
Oh, that thought gives me goosebumps, and in a good way as well. I could think up so many possibilities for this to play out. We see that Evil Morty and Tammy are going to return, as well as some fan favorites like Snuffles/Snowball. Now, this is not the end of Rick and Morty, goodness no. Heck, they even signed a contract that gave the show seventy more episodes!
Personally, I see this as the end of one arc, and the beginning of a new arc featuring a new challenge for the crew to participate in. Everybody put on your tinfoil hats, because it's theory time! I have been thinking about it, and while it might not be as outlandish (or wind up as a plot hole-filled mess) as many of the other theories, hear me out.
Personally, I think that the intelligent cats are Lovecraftian rather than aliens or scientific creations. Sure, they use technology, but that could be for a wide variety of reasons. The talking cat we see is one of them, maybe a rogue member or some kind of stowaway, but we see him with the dragon. I think that Rick and Jerry made a terrible mistake, but back to that.
These cats might too be looking for a new home, perhaps being misplaced there by Evil Morty or Tammy, who might have made an alliance. Due to this unholy union of sorts, this leads to the Ricks chasing Morty in what I believe to be that Vat of Acid episode are some who have hated it and broke away to form their own faction. I think that it could tie to my other theory that I had talked about earlier his year. Perhaps that is another Citadel? The uniforms do look considerably different from the other Ricks being accompanied by armies of Meeseeks and presumably male Gazorpazorpians.
Whatever the case is, this other faction might be dragged along with everyone else into this war, perhaps being angered by the alliance between versions of themselves and what they hate.
Anyway, I think that I might be forgetting about the cat. Rick and Jerry might have made a mistake, because, as I said, that cat is a Lovecraftian entity that is currently hanging out with a former slut dragon. I do not think that the cat and dragon will return until the end. I fear that their soul bond will summon something horrendous, which will once again leave another cliffhanger for what is yet to come.
I presume that at the end of Season 4, the Smith family will be travelling through various worlds once more and replace their alternate selves like Rick and Morty did after they (Morty being the cause and Rick giving effects) caused humanity to turn into monsters.
I really hope this isn't a plot hole-filled mess, but I will make do. Anyway, let's go on with saying that's just a theory A-wait, that's... nevermind...
