HBO Max is an American subscription video on demand streaming service from WarnerMedia (now Warner Bros. Discovery). In the United States, the service launched on May 27, 2020 as HBO Max and rebranded to Max on May 23, 2023. As of July 2025, it has now rebranded back to its original name (excluding the Netherlands and Belgium, where the service was always called HBO Max to begin with).

HBO Max is based on Warner Bros. Discovery's HBO premium TV service and includes all of its programming, plus a range of additional original programming and library content from all parts of Warner Bros. Discovery, as well as third-party content providers from which Warner Bros. Discovery bought streaming rights. The streaming service currently contains content from HBO, DC, Turner Classic Movies, Discovery, HGTV, Cartoon Network, Magnolia Network, Food Network, TLC, Adult Swim, Investigation Discovery, Travel Channel, and Motortrend.

According to AT&T (WarnerMedia's then-parent company), HBO Max in the United States had 8.6 million activated subscribers on September 30, 2020. As of thT same date, the service had a nominal total of 28.7 million subscribers, with the balance made up of HBO pay TV customers whose subscriptions would have made them eligible for free access to HBO Max, but who had not activated by that time.

The first three seasons of Rick and Morty were included on HBO Max when it first launched in the United States on May 27, 2020.

The fourth season of Rick and Morty was added to HBO Max on October 28, 2020. The fifth season of Rick and Morty was added to HBO Max on February 2, 2022. The sixth season of Rick and Morty was added to HBO Max on May 11, 2023. The seventh season of Rick and Morty was added to HBO Max on January 22, 2024. The eighth season of Rick and Morty was added to HBO Max on September 1, 2025.

The anime spin-off series Rick and Morty: The Anime was added to HBO Max on August 17, 2024 with new episodes being added the next day they premiered on Adult Swim.

On December 15, 2025, HBO Max added curated channels featuring themed playlists for various series, genres and films including a Rick and Morty channel consisting of Season 1 to Season 8 of the series.[1]

In the United States, HBO Max shares the streaming rights for Rick and Morty and Rick and Morty: The Anime with Hulu.

Unlike the original broadcast airings, HBO Max has uncensored versions of every episode of the series, regardless of country or territory.

Most if not all international versions of HBO Max have Rick and Morty and Rick and Morty: The Anime available where possible.
