Observers are a race of cosmic beings that watch and record every moment in the multiverse. They are the main antagonists in Rickfending Your Mort.
History[]
Rick called an Observer in order to check if Morty’s noted adventures are legitimate. The Observer was useful at first, but then started trying to show unwarranted clips, so the duo told him to go away. Annoyed by this, the Observer calls the attention of the whole Smith Family and starts playing embarrassing clips of them. Morty angrily pushed the Observer into the road, causing him to be hit and destroyed by a truck.
Being an all-seeing species, a group of Observers saw this incident and brought Rick and Morty to a trial room to be judged for killing the Observer. A prosecutor and a lawyer were summoned to play clips of Rick and Morty’s adventures, to decide if they are good or evil. To allow him to defend himself, the Observers allowed Rick to access their technology, and he used it to play a clip of him being a leg, much to their annoyance. The Judge condemns Rick and Morty to execution, but Rick is able to cancel it as he still had control over the courtroom.
Rick claims that, in terms of morality, the Observers are no better than him, and uses his device to play clips of them refusing to help a drowning alien, selling pirated movies and paying homeless aliens to fight. The Judge claims that only some of them are bad, and one of them brings up that the Judge slept with Tom’s wife, something he proudly admits while taunting Tom. All the Observers start to fight each other, and Rick and Morty use this opportunity to escape.
Behavior[]
Observers are known for their ability to see everything that has ever happened. Additionally, they can replay any moment in history for others to see it, both on screens and on their own bodies. Their “all-seeing” ability even extends to other universes, as the Lawyer Observer was able to replay a scene from Fantasy Planet (Prime Dimension), despite being from the Parmesan Dimension.
Despite claiming to be just spectators, they are not above using their abilities for personal gain (e.g illegally selling upcoming movies). They are apathetic towards other species, but will get involved if one of their own is killed.
