Rick and Morty Wiki

This page is considered an official policy on the Rick and Morty Wiki.
It has wide acceptance among editors and is considered a standard that everyone should follow.

Protection is the ability to limit who can edit a page. Administrators and content moderators may protect pages to preserve the quality of the page and integrity of the wiki. A protected page can still be read.

Uses[]

The majority of content pages on Rick and Morty Wiki should remain unprotected to encourage all users in the community to edit. It is against Fandom's Terms of Use to permanently protect large numbers of content pages. Pages will not be protected without a valid cause that serves the betterment of the community.

When the need to restrict edit access does arise, the following is taken into account:

Acceptable reasons[]

  • Vandalism has persisted over a long period of time
  • Stopping an edit war
  • Protect the proper display of the wiki (i.e. wiki logo, frequently used templates, the main page, policy pages, etc.)

Unacceptable reasons[]

  • Disagreeing with an administrator or moderator; this is conflict of interest.
    • If an edit war between a moderator and a community member arises, the page may be locked temporarily, preferably by a moderator foreign to the disagreement, after which a conversation must occur to find a solution.
  • Reserving the page to be edited later as a staff project.
  • Marking a page as done -- wiki pages are never done, as language can always be improved upon.

Levels of protection[]

When the need for protection arises, the administrators or content moderators will use their best judgment to find a balance between protecting the integrity of the wiki and allowing everyone to participate.

Fully protected[]

This is the highest level of protection and restricts editing to administrators and Content Moderators. Content articles may only be fully protected for a short period of time. If you do find a permanently protected content article, contact an administrator for review.

Semi-protected[]

Semi-protected articles prevent unregistered and non-Autoconfirmed users from editing. This protection level is usually sufficient for most purposes.

Request/Review protection[]

To request an article be protected or to have the protection level be reviewed, please contact an administrator or content moderator on their wall.
