Summer Sleepover is a short video created with claymation. It was written, directed, and animated by Lee Hardcastle. It released on Adult Swim's YouTube channel on October 31, 2022. The short premiered on Adult Swim on October 30, 2022 and aired on Toonami on February 25, 2023.
Synopsis[]
The short starts with an alien peeking out of a window and entering into a house with a blank white room, scaring the viewer. At the Smith Residence, Rick wakes up with the Garage covered in goo and crawls over to get a laser rifle on the other side of the room while an alien watches and charges up to him. The rest of the Smiths get ready for bed except for Summer who is having a sleepover with Nancy and Tricia Lange. The same alien from before watches Summer from her room as she notices and opens the door with her and her friends bringing it in. They party and pass out for a long while during midnight. The alien secretly goes up to the attic and transforms into a giant monster with tentacles.
It slams its tentacles on the floor, grabbing Summer and her friends’ towards the ceiling, and controls their dreams. In Nancy’s dreams, Nancy realizes something is off, walks into the bathroom, and starts to grow extra pairs of arms. Tricia disappears when dancing with Summer and goes to the bathroom. Nancy attacks Summer but the latter uses a hand cream bottle to blind her eyes. Summer tries to escape but sees Tricia dancing in a multi-colored space. Nancy then throws Summer into the mirror and enters a green slime covered hallway. Summer notices the alien and follows after it while Nancy chases her from behind. In the real world, the alien spawns more tentacles.
Summer continues to search after the creature in a dark alleyway and in the forest. In the real world, Jerry is grabbed by an alien tentacles and Beth brushes her teeth in the bathroom while noticing green slime emerging from an air vent. In their dream, Summer runs away from a giant alien and Jerry encounters a three-eyed blue alien women in his bedroom. Beth goes into the attic and is encountered by the giant alien. In the garage, Rick wakes up covered in green slime and slaps away a tentacle coming after him. Summer runs away from the alien in the blank room while the alien transforms with a human-like body. Summer enters the blank white room and finds the alien turned into a worm. Beth is grabbed by the alien as Rick shoots at it with his laser rifle making it ooze green goo.
The giant alien spins a flashlight Beth was carrying before to blind Rick and capture him and take his laser rifle away. Morty notices a tentacle is after him in his room but punches it as it goes away. In her dream, Summer investigates the worm but hides after Nancy is shown still searching after her out the window. Beth and Rick are seen captured by the giant alien while Morty finds that Summer and her friends are captured by the alien in her room. Summer makes her face disappear and kicks the human-like alien in its crotch, making the giant alien in real life scream. Nancy makes her face disappear and stomps on the worm, effecting the alien more.
Beth untangles herself out of the tentacles and grabs Rick’s laser rifle as she shoots lasers at the giant alien. After running out of ammo, she uses the laser rifle to send a rocket into its mouth. In his dream, Jerry looks at the blue alien suggestively before the blue alien suddenly explodes. The giant alien explodes covering everything with green goo and freeing everyone. In the morning, everyone wakes up and Summer, Tricia, and Nancy strike a pose and dance at the end. In the credits, Jerry wakes up and notices that there is green goo everywhere in the room as he smiles at the viewer.
