Cultural references[]
- The episode's Japanese title 秋葉原大決戦 appears in red text with an analog-sounding orchestral score, similar to the opening titles of old Godzilla movies, especially Ghidorah, the Three-Headed Monster.[2]
- The giant robot (mecha) is a common genre in anime. A pilot mentally syncing with the mecha is similar to Neon Genesis Evangelion, and the requirement of two copilots in sync is similar to the American film Pacific Rim.
- Additionally, the title may be a reference to the Yokai Monsters series of films. Q-Saku resembles Yasunori Kato, who originated from the Teito Monogatari novels, and was the antagonist in the 2005 film version of The Great Yokai War [3]
