"Valkyrick" is the second episode of the eighth season of Rick and Morty. It is the 73rd episode of the series overall. It premieres on June 1, 2025. It was written by Scott Marder and directed by Jacob Hair. This episode is rated TV-14-DLV.
Synopsis[]
Space Beth reluctantly calls Rick to help her investigate who ordered the Gromflomite Queen's assassination.
Plot[]
Rick tries to reason with the Defiance, but accidently gets Beth kicked out of the Defiance.
In the post credit scene, Cisco, Rick’s inside man is revealed to be real and his no show was revealed that he overslept due to a drug overdose. Realizing this, he panics that he forgot about the mission, while his girlfriend comforts him by giving him more drugs.

- This episode was previewed early with the previous episode "Summer of All Fears" at the Stuttgart International Festival of Animated Film in Germany and Departure Festival + Conference in Toronto.[1][2]
- In celebration of Season 8, Pocket Mortys' weekly updates coincided with new episodes, including new avatars and Mortys for players to collect. With the release of this episode came Cisco as an avatar, along with Ultromflomite Morty and Bug Costume Morty to catch.
- Morty, Jerry, Summer, and Beth do not appear in this episode.
- This is the first episode of the series to not feature Morty in any way, or even mention him.
- As of this episode, every main character has been absent for at least one episode.

Cultural references[]
- The spores that infect the Gromflomites are similar to Super Soldier serum from the Marvel Universe, with it even being mentioned by name.
- The episode's title is a reference to the film, Valkyrie.
- When Space Beth calls Rick and tries to explain her situation as a "funny story but not that funny", Rick jokingly questions if she is pitching a Hulu original.
- Rick tries to convince a Gromflomite to be an unlikely ally with him and Space Beth and explains the situation as if a ghost worked together with the Ghostbusters referencing the Ghostbusters franchise and specifically its spin-off series, The Real Ghostbusters. Rick also mentions the character, Slimer, when the Gromflomite transforms into a Ultromflomite and when General Gromflomite forms an alliance with Rick and Space Beth.
- When Fantabulous explains his plan to Rick and Space Beth, Rick mentions how millennials killed Blockbuster Video.
Errors[]
- Rick teleported to Defiance HQ but after leaving the place he was returning to Earth on his spaceship even though he had come to save Space Beth by teleporting to her not using his ship.
